From 1949-1950, Toni Stone played semi pro ball for the New Orleans Creoles. Toni Stone met boxing great Joe Louis in 1949. When Henry Aaron moved from the Indianapolis Clowns to the majors, Toni Stone replaced him as the Clowns' star infielder. Mamie "Peanut" Johnson followed Toni Stone to the Negro League and pitched for the Indianapolis Clowns in 1954.
Toni Stone played for the Indianapolis Clowns in the Negro League in 1953. Toni Stone played second base for the Indianapolis Clowns in the Negro League.  After the Clowns traded Toni to the Kansas City Monarchs in 1954, Connie  Morgan (shown here with team comedian King Tut and manager Oscar  Charleston) replaced Stone as Indianapolis' second baseman. Today, Mamie "Peanut" Johnson talks to audiences, including fascinated  young girls, about the Negro League and the doors Toni Stone opened to  women in baseball.
